Recipe 3: Giant Cinnamon Roll
For all of us who don’t have time to bake (or can’t) and still want to be awesome…here’s a recipe from my lively friend Meredith Bowman. Thanks Meredith!
I tried to think about some gourmet Christmas recipe, and all that comes to mind is one defining Christmas several years ago.
It was a particularly busy Christmas, so for Christmas morning I made Pillsbury cinnamon rolls, right out of the can. Who knew that my frantic, last minute Hail Mary would become the new family tradition? My kids list those rolls as a favorite Christmas memory. (I still haven’t decided how I feel about that.)
But the way to stardom is to give the people what they want, so now I make them every year.
Last year however, I discovered a new twist on the can via Pillsbury.com. It was one giant cinnamon roll. Talk about a platform for stardom!
Here goes it:
Giant Cinnamon Roll
1 can (17.5 oz) Pillsbury™ Grands!™ refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
1. Heat oven to 350°F. Spray large cookie sheet with cooking spray. Separate dough into 5 rolls.
2. Place 1 roll in center of cookie sheet. Unroll remaining 4 rolls into long strips of dough. Loosely coil each strip around roll, cinnamon side in, forming giant cinnamon roll (be sure to replace any cinnamon that falls off).
3. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until center is thoroughly baked and edge is deep golden brown. Cool 5 minutes.
4. Meanwhile, remove cover from icing; microwave on Medium (50%) 15 seconds. Drizzle icing over warm cinnamon roll. Cut into 6 wedges; serve warm
5. Claim your spotlight.
